If your trailer breaks away from your tow vehicle, your brakes won't work unless they have power. This kit adds a battery and switch to keep the brakes working, and it's required by law on most trailers with EOH disc brakes.
When you're towing, your trailer brakes work off your truck's battery through the 7-way wiring plug. But if your trailer comes off your truck and that wiring gets disconnected, your trailer has no brakes. All it takes is a missed latch or a loose hitch pin for that to happen. And if you're running electric-over-hydraulic brakes, that's not just dangerous, it's illegal. This kit gives you a backup plan. It includes a breakaway switch that mounts to the trailer frame. If the trailer separates, the switch pulls free and sends power from the onboard battery to the actuator so the brakes still work and the trailer can stop. That might not just save your trailer, it might save lives.
The battery box mounts to your trailer frame wherever you've got space. It opens from the top, so you can check or replace the battery without pulling the whole thing apart. There's an LED tester on the lid that shows if the battery's charged. You can also test the full system by pulling the breakaway pin to make sure the actuator fires immediately. It's a simple way to confirm everything's ready before you tow.
Mount the battery box on the trailer frame and connect the yellow wire to the actuator's breakaway circuit. Always check battery charge before towing.
Do not pressure wash or immerse the battery housing.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Hydrapro trailer breakaway kit. Now, this is going to give you a reliable emergency stopping power if your trailer becomes disconnected from your tow vehicle. And the built-in charger is gonna maintain your battery at optimal power. It's gonna ensure that your trailer's braking system is always ready when needed.
The LED testing feature is gonna let you monitor your battery's charge level at a glance, it might be hard for you to see, but I'm pushing the test button here and the green light here is indicating fully charged. Hopefully you can see that. And then you also have a recharge light and then a charging light. So it's gonna be very clear as to the status of this charger and of the battery itself. This is to a top load, so it's gonna give you easy access to your battery.
This is gonna work with single tandem and triple axle trailers. And it does include everything that you see here on my table before me. You're going to get the breakaway switch and then the two amp charger, the LED tester and a battery inside. The battery capacity is 10 amp hours, and I think that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you.
Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
